Road Opening Permit

Anyone wishing to excavate in a public road, footway or footpath must obtain a road opening permit before doing so.

To obtain a road opening permit for the A76, A77 or A78 Trunk Roads, you should contact Amey who operate and maintain the trunk road network in the South West of Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland

  • To comply with legislation the Road Opening Permit application should be submitted at least 15 working days (21 calendar days) before the requested start date.
  • Please make sure that any work related to the permit is planned accordingly.
  • Any road opening permit is subject to conditions as set out by Ayrshire Roads Alliance.
