1 All associated traffic management with the works must be to Chapter 8, (2009) of the Traffic Signals Manual
and approved by Roads Authority
Note: Application must be made in accordance with legislative notice required under Transport
(Scotland) Act. Details of which can be obtained from Roads Authority.
2 This permit does not include the right to interfere with any Roads Authority or Public Utility apparatus in, or above
the road, footway, or verge. It is the responsibility of the applicant to determine ownership and position of any
such apparatus through Susiephone on 0845 140 0270
3 A permit for the purpose of working on, or connecting to, existing Public Utility plant will not be issued unless
the applicant submits a current HAUC certificate from the contractor to be engaged in the work
4 No opening shall be permitted on bridges or culverts nor any thrust boring carried out without the written approval
of the Roads Authority, in conjunction with this permit.
5 If the contractor fails to undertake any remedial work required, within three months of the expiry of the maintenance
period, then the Roads Authority will carry out all such work and recharge the applicant all resulting costs
6 Proof of a current annual Public Liability Indemnity to a value of £5,000,000 will be required before a permit can be issued
(Registered P.U. exempted) Permits are issued in blocks of four weeks and must be accompanied by an application form
and relevant fee.
7 The Roads Authority is to be notified of the actual start date and the date of completion of the work by
telephoning 01563 503160, emailing ara.roadspermits@ayrshireroadsalliance.org, or faxing 01563 503167
and quoting the Permit number and relevant date
8 Should the Roads Authority be required to carry out any emergency work in connection with the permit in the interests
of public safety then all costs will be recharged to the contractor named in the permit. Similarly where any remedial works
required within the twelve month maintenance period are not carried out within four weeks of the applicant being
notified in writing of the work required, then the Roads Authority will carry out the work and recover the costs from the
applicant
9 Plans to be Provided
(i) A basic layout plan / sketch to be provided for all road openings.
(ii) A detailed plan must be provided for major / long term excavations of the carriageway and/or footways.
(iii) Plans of the Traffic Management proposals must be provided for approval.
(iv) A site meeting may be required before permission can be approved
