Winter Resilience Groups

Each year we encourage Community Councils and volunteer groups to participate in our winter resilience and flood watch programmes.

Our winter resilience groups voluntarily carry out footway gritting within their local communities, helping vulnerable neighbours access their homes and local shops.

Winter resilience groups are issued with a grit bin, shovels, lightweight hand spreader, buckets, gloves, long sleeved high visibility vests and safety glasses.

if you are part of a winter resilience group and require a Grit Bin refill please contact us:

  • by phone 01563 503 160

Flood Watch is a new initiative introduced by Ayrshire Roads Alliance in which participating Winter Resilience Groups are asked to notify us of debris within watercourses so we can avoid issue during exceptionally wet weather.

  • Notifications of debris by our Winter Resilience and Flood Watch Groups will be dealt with by Ayrshire Roads Alliance operatives.

Ochiltree gritter gang share information about their winter resilience group.
