Apply for a Skip Permit

It is the responsibility of the Skip Hire company providing the skip to obtain this permit, and pay the permit fee.

Permits must be obtained from the Ayrshire Roads Alliance prior to placement.

Any skips placed on the road prior to obtaining the permit or after a valid permit has expired are placed illegally and will be subject to a fixed penalty notice under Section 37 of the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005.

Applications for skip permits must be received and paid for in full a minimum of five working days before the skip is to be placed on the public carriageway.

Please submit this application form 5 working days in advance of the proposed skip placement date.
Submission of this application gives no authority for the applicant to place any skip on the road.
If a skip is placed on a road without the permission of East Ayrshire Council or South Ayrshire Council then a £120 Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) may be issued to the skip owner.
If permission is granted a skip permit licence will be issued to the skip owner.

Builders Skips (Markings) (Scotland) Regulations 1986
East Ayrshire Council or South Ayrshire Council are not liable for any injuries or losses sustained as a result of incidents arising from the placing of a skip(s) on the road.
