Ayr Retailers' Loading Permit

Type A Loading Permit

Retailers in Carrick Street, Hope Street and Newmarket Street are entitled to a Type A Loading Permit. The permit is valid in the street in which the applicant has a business.

It can be used for loading and unloading by private car after 4.30pm and before 10.30am. It must not be used between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

Type B Loading Permit

Retailers in the High Street Kirk Port, Nile Court and Old Bridge Street whose deliveries are wholly or predominantly by private car are entitled to a Type B Loading Permit.

In the cases of retailers in Kirk Port, Nile Court and Old Bridge Street, these permits are valid in the street in which the applicant has a business.

The permit can be used, in that street, for loading and unloading by private car after 4.30pm and before 10.30am. It must not be used between 10.30am and 4.30pm. It can also be used in the loading bays in the High Street after 6pm and before 10am.

They must not be used in High Street between 10am and 6pm.

In the case of retailers in the High Street these permits are valid in one of the following streets, whichever is closest to the applicant's business: Carrick Street, Hope Street, Kirk Port, Newmarket Street, Nile Court or Old Bridge Street.

The permit can be used in these streets for loading and unloading by private car after 4.30pm and before 10.30am.

It must not be used between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

It can also be used in the loading bays in the High Street after 6pm and before 10am. It must not be used in the High Street between 10am and 6pm.

Apply

Before a loading permit can be issued, the Council must be satisfied that the applicant is entitled to a permit. You therefore must supply certain documentation to confirm your address and the registration number of your vehicle.

The replacement of a lost or stolen permit or a replacement permit for a change of vehicle is subject to a £5.00 admin fee.

Renew your Permit

Both Type A and Type B permits are renewable annually and are valid from 4 quarterly dates in the year, namely 1st March, 1st June, 1st September and 1st December.

A permit applied for between two of these dates will run from the beginning of the current quarter. Permits running from the start of the next quarter may be applied for up to 14 days in advance.
