Tegan Nicol, Primary 6, from Barassie Primary School, has won the annual Road Safety calendar competition for her artwork that encourages people to think about in-car safety.
The winning design was selected from hundreds of entries from schools across South Ayrshire. The Ayrshire Roads Alliance’s Road Safety Team in partnership with Junior Road Safety Officers in each school organised the competition, helping to spread the important road safety campaign message of in-car safety, wearing a seat belt and ensuring that car seats are fitted properly.
Councillor Ian Cochrane, Portfolio Holder for Sustainability and the Environment had the very difficult task of choosing the winning image to feature on the 2018 Road Safety Calendar.
Councillor Cochrane said, “Tegan’s done a great job highlighting in-car safety and I’d like to congratulate her for winning this competition with her imaginative design.
“We can all learn from Tegan – put safety first and be considerate to others. Take it slow when driving through local communities and at junctions and bends, and give others plenty of room.”
The free calendar is now available from South Ayrshire Council offices.
