Roadworks at A71 Galston bypass and roundabout
Fri, 10 Jul 2015
Towards the end of July, the Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be carrying out a week-long resurfacing programme to the A71 Galson bypass and roundabout, aimed at improving the quality of travel for all road users.
The work is part of the planned Structural Maintenance Programme to improve the condition of roads throughout East Ayrshire.
Most of the work will be carried out during the day, using temporary traffic lights to minimise disruption to traffic, but please be aware that delays are likely.
The bypass will close from 7pm on Friday 24 July until 6pm on Saturday 25 July.
It will close again from 7am on Sunday 26 July to allow final surfacing to be completed.
During the closure, a diversion route will be set up through Galston, via Titchfield Street, Cross Street, Bridge Street and Polwarth Street.
From Monday 27 July until Friday 31 July, Polwarth Street between the roundabout and Church Lane will be closed to allow the remainder of the roundabout to be completed, with temporary traffic lights in operation.
During this time, the diversion route will be Bridge Street, Cross Street, Titchfield Street and the A71 by-pass.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed to access Polwarth Street during the closure and have priority at all times. Access to premises south of the river on Polwarth Street will be from Bridge Street.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance thanks road users and pedestrians in advance for their cooperation during these essential works and apologises for any inconvenience, or delays to journeys that may be caused at this time.
