Throughout the year JRSO’s, who were selected from Primary 6 classes across South Ayrshire last August, have been running campaigns to improve road safety around their schools and raise awareness of road safety issues among their peers.

There were four awards presented at the ceremony.

    And the winners were:

    • Noticeboard of the Year 2015 – Doonfoot Primary School
    • Campaign of the Year 2015 – Heathfield Primary School and Muirhead Primary School (Joint Winners)
    • Co-ordinator of the Year 2015 – Mrs Karen Bruce, Muirhead Primary School
    • School of the Year 2015 – Muirhead Primary School

Councillor John McDowall, Chair of the Joint Board, hosted the award ceremony with Councillor Margaret Toner. He congratulated all the JRSO’s while Cllr Toner presented them with a certificate.

Cllr McDowall said: “I really look forward to the annual JRSO award ceremony, to meet the young people at the end of their JRSO year and to celebrate their achievements. The JRSO’s have worked very hard on their campaigns and they have achieved improvements in road safety around their schools.

“Special congratulations go to Muirhead Primary School for their hat trick of awards, they have shown real commitment to improving road safety in and around their school.”
