Roadworks – A713 south of Dalmellington
Thu, 14 May 2015
From Tuesday 26 May, the Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on two sections of the A713 south of Dalmellington, as part of its ongoing programme to improve the condition of the road network.
The project, which is weather dependent, will involve the resurfacing of approximately 2.5km south of the U759 Loch Doon turn off and then the resurfacing and widening of approximately 0.5km of road at the Loch Doon turn off.
Preparatory works, which start on Tuesday 26 May, will be mainly undertaken on weekdays and traffic will be managed by convoy operations. The road will remain open during these periods however delays are expected.
Due to the narrow road widths traffic restrictions, which will protect both the workforce and the travelling public, will have to be put in place when the final road surface is laid.
This means that over five weekends – 30/31 May, 6/7 June, 13/14 June, 20/21 June and 27/28 June – the road will be closed at the two sections where the resurfacing work is taking place.
Officers from the Ayrshire Roads Alliance have addressed the concerns of the local community in relation to the closures and have put the following arrangements in place:
• The working day will start later at 08:30 on Saturday when the road will close
• The road will be re-opened for an hour at approximately 12:00 under convoy traffic management
• The road will then re-open at 17:00 again under convoy traffic management until the road closes again at 08:30 on the Sunday
• The same arrangements will apply each Sunday with the road closing at 08:30; re-opening for an hour at approximately 12:00 then re-opening again at 17:00
During the weekend closure periods a diversion route will be fully signed via A713, A702, A76, B741 and vice versa.
Emergency vehicles will be permitted access through the site for the duration of the works.
Advisory signs will be erected in advance of the works to alert the travelling public.
Please allow sufficient time when planning your journey.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance apologises for any inconvenience caused during these essential roadworks.
