    Flood risk management consultation

    Tue, 21 Apr 2015

Local communities are being invited to have their say on the draft flood risk management strategies and local flood risk management plans at drop-in sessions being organised by the Ayrshire Roads Alliance.

The Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009 used river catchments to split Scotland into 14 local plan districts. For each unique district a Flood Risk Management Strategy will be prepared and published by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) in December this year and a local flood risk management plan will be published by East and South Ayrshire Councils through the Ayrshire Roads Alliance in June 2016.

A consultation document has been prepared which includes a summary of the main sources and impacts of flooding within each local plan district and local people now have the opportunity to comment on the plans including their objectives and actions.

The public consultation is available here

And there are many ways to give feedback on the consultation including through the website, in writing to SEPA at floodactconsultation@sepa.org.uk or by phone on 03000 996699.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance has organised drop-in sessions to provide the local community with more information on the consultation and the opportunity to chat with the Alliance’s Flood Risk Management team.

The sessions will be held on:

Tuesday 5 May 4pm-6pm Troon library
    Thursday 7 May 4pm – 6pm Prestwick library
    Tuesday 12 May 4pm – 6pm Ayr library
    Thursday 14 May 6pm – 8pm Stewarton library
    Tuesday 19 May 4pm – 6pm Girvan library
