    Cashless Parking Scheme

    Tue, 10 Feb 2015

A new cashless parking scheme has been launched this week in Kilmarnock allowing motorists to pay for their parking using a mobile phone app.

This new way to pay is an innovative idea from RingGo Cashless Parking Solutions which allows people without the correct change for the ticket machine to pay with a debit or credit card through their phones either by calling or with an app. This also gives drivers the opportunity to extend their parking time without having to return to their car and buy a new ticket.

Councillor Buchanan said: “East Ayrshire Council is always looking at new ways to make life easier for motorists: the introduction of this system will do just that”.

“We will do everything we can to encourage people to come into Kilmarnock and shop and hopefully this scheme will make life a bit easier when parking in the town centre”

Stewart Turner, Head of Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: “It’s a good idea that we are delighted to introduce. The cashless payment scheme is a great alternative for those without the required change. The app is free to download and simple to work. All the driver has to do once they have registered with the scheme is enter the unique ID number for their location and the amount of time they wish to purchase”.

Kilmarnock is the one of the first locations in Scotland to introduce this scheme which has already been introduced in Ayr with great success. John Wheeley, RingGo representative said: “We’re delighted to be here in Kilmarnock, the system has been incredibly successful in Ayr and Edinburgh and will also be introduced soon in Glasgow”.

Any motorists wishing to register with the cashless parking scheme should visit or visit any app store on android, iPhone, Blackberry or Windows phone, to download the app.
