Roadworks Whatriggs Road and Merrick Road, Kilmarnock
Tue, 08 Jul 2014
Whatriggs Road and Merrick Road, Kilmarnock will be resurfaced next week as part of the Ayrshire Roads Alliance’s planned Structural Maintenance Programme to improve the condition of roads throughout East Ayrshire.
The essential £45,000 roadworks will take place between Monday 14 July and Friday 25 July.
Due to the limited carriageway widths available it will be necessary to close both roads for the duration of the works, to protect both the travelling public and the workforce.
In partnership with Stagecoach, an agreed diversion route with temporary stops will be put in place for the local bus service. The diversion route will be Deveron Road, Kinloch Road, Whatriggs Road, Tinto Avenue, Loudoun Avenue, Campsie Road and Dumgoyne Road before returning onto the bus route at Lammermuir Road.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the works for the duration of the closure.
The Alliance on behalf of the Council apologises for the inconvenience that these works will inevitably cause both to through traffic and to the residents locally. However, these are essential works and will improve the quality of travel for all road users.
